The Official Rules
During the Dark Oath Racing draft time, you will draft your initial roster of 5 Sprint Cup drivers using a pre-determined, random-generated draft order and a snake-order format. Once a driver has been selected, he is removed from the pool of available drivers and no other team in your 8-team league may select him. Your team must consist of 3 drivers on your starting team and 2 drivers in your garage. These drivers remain on your team until you decide to modify your team. You can make roster switches and first-come-first-served free agent acquisitions once your team is drafted.
The Draft
The Dark Oath Racing draft will be conducted using this pre-determined, random-generated draft order in a snake-order format such that Team 1 picks first, Team 2 picks second, … Team 8 picks 8th, Team 8 picks 9th, Team 7 picks 10th, Team 6 picks 11th, … Team 1 picks 16th, Team 1 picks 17th, and so forth through 5 rounds. In each round, you will have up to 75 seconds to draft your driver. The draft order is set by Dark Oath Racing and cannot be changed.
Live Driver Selection
You may select your driver from the pool of available drivers during your allotted 75 seconds. To make live driver selections, you must attend the Dark Oath Racing Live Draft Party. Once you have made your live driver selection, the draft proceeds to the next team in the draft order regardless of any time remaining in your 75-second allotment. If you do not complete your selection within 75 seconds, your turn is lost and passed to the next player. Once the draft has been completed, you will receive an email confirming the rosters of the 8 teams in your league.
MODIFY TEAM
To modify your team via the Internet, click the appropriate navigational link on the Contest website, login using your user ID and password (if you haven't already done so), modify your starting team and garage, as needed, submit the modifications and record the confirmation number you receive for them. There are three types of modifications: (1) roster switch, (2) trading with other teams, and (3) first-come-first-served free agent acquisition.
(1) A roster switch occurs when you replace a driver on your starting team with a driver from your garage. Roster switches are unlimited during the Contest. Roster switches can be made each week from Tuesday until the green flag for the weekend’s race in order to be effective for the race.
(2) Trading with other teams is allowed. However, you may only trade drivers who are of equal value. Refer to the Trades Tab on the Dark Oath Racing website to see the current trade value of drivers. Driver values are ranked by rounds 1-5 and there are 50 or more drivers on the list. Round 1 are drivers 1-8, Round 2 are drivers 9-16, and etc. You may trade between two teams if both drivers being traded are within the same round. To ensure that all trades are fair and within the rules, trades have to be approved by the league Commissioner. You may set up a trade through the website, but will not be given the option to accept or decline. Only the Commissioner is given the option.
(3) First-come-first-served free agent acquisitions can be made anytime and does not need approval by the league Commissioner.
At the green flag, your team is locked in for the upcoming race. No roster changes are allowed until the following Monday at 10 AM CT. Your team carries over from week to week if you do not make any modifications.
Trade Deadline
The trade deadline will be the 22nd race of the season. Once that race has ended, trades will no longer be allow the rest of the season.
SCORING
To determine standings, teams are ranked by match play results. Each week two teams are paired together to compete, the winner is determined by who scores the most points during the match up. The team with the most wins is first and the team with the most losses is last.
Point Scoring System
Points are awarded to drivers using the following formula:
Total Points = Qualifying Points + Sprint Cup Points
Qualifying Points are awarded to a driver based on his qualifying position.
1st = 10 points
2-5th = 9 points
6-9th = 8 points
10-13th = 7 points
14-18th = 6 points
19-22nd = 5 points
23-26th = 4 points
27-31st = 3 points
32-35th = 2 points
36-39th = 1 points
40-43rd = 0 points
In the event that drivers do not qualify for a race due to weather or other circumstances and thus the starting order is determined by owner points, Qualifying Points still are awarded based on the starting order.
Points are accumulated weekly for all 4 starting drivers. Only Qualifying Points and Sprint Cup points from the listed races are used. A driver's Qualifying Points and Sprint Cup points are added to your team totals only during the week(s) that he is on your starting team.
If your driver is penalized by NASCAR, your team will not lose the corresponding Sprint Cup points.
Garage drivers' points do not contribute to your team totals. Previous points by a driver before he was on your roster do not count.
